The play highlights the dignified place of women in society, equality between men and women, and mutual trust. It shows that women, like men, deserve freedom and respect. They have the right to make decisions about their own lives. The story centres on a housewife who feels stifled by an egotistical husband and an oppressive society. She wants to build an identity of her own.
