Importance of Inclusion

Inclusive education is about embracing all, finding similarities in differences, making a commitment to do whatever it takes to provide every child a right to belong, not to be excluded.

Our Journey towards Inclusion

Little Angels Inclusive School started as a special school with 46 students at its Model Town building in 2011. Gradually in a short time frame an integrated set up where students were provided with academics separately and were involved with the mainstream for co curricular activities was initiated. As students became more comfortable with the mainstream merging they were then shifted towards inclusion.

It was the dream of beloved Late Director Ms Soniya Arya to provide these special children with real inclusion. Her dream was realized when Soniya Arya Memorial Little Angels Inclusive School was established in 2015 in her memory. The inauguration of the premises was done by former Miss Universe and social activitist Ms Sushmita Sen on 30th September 2015 on her 44th Birth Anniversary.

Achieving Inclusion in reality

The school is proud to state that goal of real inclusion is being achieved with great success here. Students with intellectual level of mild/slow learner/borderline are given exposure to mainstream syllabus within the Inclusive School. Gradually when they are comfortable following it they are shifted to the mainstream classroom with one subject initially and under the constant supervision of special educator. With time as the students become more confident the number of subjects are increased with the mainstream classes. Mainstream educators are also being provided with regular training to become more adept at handling special children. The school timings are also been managed in such a way that the students attending mainstream classes are given the benefit of an hour of interaction with special educators where they can help the students in their areas of difficulty on a regular basis.

At Soniya Arya Memorial Little Angels Inclusive School, it is not just academics, sports or extracurricular activities that are provided, the special angels are also provided with love, a moral connection, an emotional bonding which is clearly visible on their faces when they spend time with the patrons, their families, celebrating various occasions and becoming an integral part of Little Angels Family.

The entire infrastructure of Soniya Arya Memorial Little Angels Inclusive School has been designed keeping in mind all the requirements of a barrier free environment for individuals with varying impairments. Starting from the entry point ramp has been provided for easy movement. Sensor doors are provided to ensure safety. The entire ceiling in the passage has been lined by colour coded lines to help students navigate from one room to next following colour patterns.

The floor also has been provided with a tactile flooring to aid the visually impaired students in their movements from one place to another. Every block of the building has lifts and the entire building is centrally air conditioned. All classrooms have been provided with modified sitting arrangements keeping in mind the Comfort and convenience of the students. Specially designed chairs have been made to ensure the comfort, safety and easy movement of students with physical limitations.

Individualized separation cabins have been designed keeping in mind the Hyperactive students to remove the surrounding distractions and help them concentrate.

  • Excellent achievements in academics by students.
  • Mainstream inclusion of 8 students full fledged and 13 students with one subject.
  • Successful rehabilitation of Rahul in his father’s business after completing his matriculation from NIOS.
  • Priksha, a student with mild intellectual impairment and hearing impairment after winning many medals at district, state and national level, performed remarkably in World Winter Games 2017, at Austria.
  • Tanu, a mild intellectually impaired students won the hearts of one and all with her performance in ice skating at World Winter Games 2017, Austria
  • Muskaan a mild intellectually impaired student with hearing impairment after winning many medals at national level games, won 1 Gold and 3 Silver medals at World Summer Games 2019, Abu Dhabi, for power.
  • Regular Training and up gradation workshops and seminars for special educators.
  • Continuous parents’ empowerment programs to seek their help as co-therapists to accelerate the development.
  • Increased emphasis on training in life related skills to facilitate real inclusive.
  • Excellent performance of some students in drawing/painting competitions at district, state and national levels. One of the hearing impaired student Gaurav has shown a remarkable talent in painting, with proper guidance he is even honing his skills further.
